
Titans among FCSAA finalists for academic players, teams of year
The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has announced the finalists for its annual athletics awards, recognizing excellence in the classroom and competition during the 2024-25 academic year.
Eastern Florida State College's Morgan Vici is a finalist for Male Athlete of the Year as the cross country runner was the FCSAA Division I Runner of the Year after winning the XC Division I Championships.
Women's tennis player Elena Prado Martinez is a finalist for the Female Athlete of the Year after winning the Vicki Schnurr Award last week.
Two men's team's are up for the Male Academic Team of the Year (small) as the men's golf team and the men's tennis team both went to the national tournament and are finalists for academic team of the year.
Three men's teams are among the finalists for Male Academic Team of the Year (large) as the baseball team, the men's basketball team and the men's soccer teams are all finalists.
The women's golf team is a finalist for the Female Academic Team of the Year (small) and three teams are finalists for the Female Academic Team of the Year (large) as the women's basketball team, the softball team and the volleyball team all made the finals.
Nominees must have accumulated 48 credit hours with a minimum 3.30 GPA and have completed at least three full-time terms, including at least one at a FCSAA institution. Citizenship, community service and athletic prowess may also be taken into consideration. Male and Female Academic Teams of the Year - for small (10 or fewer participants) and large (11+ participants) rosters will also be selected.
All award winners will be announced July 3.
