
Baseball team falls to Chipola, will play for third place Sunday
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team fell to Chipola College in the Visit Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic on Saturday night.
The Titans lost for the first time this season, falling 13-6 and is 2-1 at the classic and 6-1 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College will play in the third-place game in the 14-team tournament on Sunday afternoon at Publix Sports Park.
Chipola College scored eight runs in the first two innings, but the Titans struck for three runs in the bottom of the second.
In the fourth inning, Chipola hit a solo home run to lead 10-3 but the Titans scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Titans scored once in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jamel Vera Jr. drove in two runs while Nicholas Paszt went 1-for-3 with two runs scored while Bryce Jackson was 1-for-1 and scored twice.
Eastern Florida State College will play for third place on Sunday before coming home to play against Polk State College Thursday at 5 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
