The Eastern Florida State College baseball team had a big day Saturday to pick up a series win against Seminole State College.
The Titans won both games of the doubleheader, winning the first game 12-7 and then won the second game 12-4 as Eastern Florida State College improved to 5-4 in the Citrus Conference.
Eastern Florida State College got off to a fast start, scoring five times in the first inning. Up 7-3 the Titans scored four more times in the third inning and led 11-3 before Seminole's Nic Pepe and Julio Lluberes homered in the fourth. Up 11-7, the Titans added a run in the bottom of the fifth and Michael Benedict tossed three innings of shutout baseball allowing just one hit to lock down the win.
Shane Thomas went 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored three times while Gustavo Mendez had two hits and drove in three runs.
In Game 2, Seminole State College scored four times in the top of the fourth inning to take a commanding lead but then the Titans struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning highlighted by a two-run single by Bryce Pax.
The Titans would score six more times in the fifth inning and added another run in the seventh to end the game 12-4.
Kevin Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBI while Bo Tabola, Ryan Cerrone, Jason Mack, Bryce Jackson and Pax each had two hits.
Eastern Florida State College will host Bryant & Stratton College Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game at Bruce Bochy Field. The Titans will host Indian River State College on Thursday in the first game of a three-game series.
