
Baseball team defeats Pasco-Hernando for second win of weekend
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team rebounded from a slow start to defeat Pasco-Hernando State College Saturday at the SCF Legends Classic in Bradenton.
The Titans, who are now 2-0 this season, came back from a 7-0 deficit to win 16-8 in seven innings to win the first of two games tonight.
Down 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning the Titans responded with three runs in the bottom of the second inning as Ethan Askin, J Vera and Jeff Davis all had RBI singles in the inning.
Jacob Goldman came in to finish the second and then had a shutdown third inning. The Titans loaded the bases with one out and Bryce Jackson unloaded them with a three-run double. He would take third and score on an errant throw to tie the game 7-7.
Pasco-Hernando would score a run to make it 8-7 in the fourth inning but the Titans once again battled back in the bottom of the fifth inning.
With two on, Vera smacked and RBI single to tie the game and then Davis walked with the bases loaded to give the Titans an 8-7 lead. The Titans would score five times in the fifth to take a 12-8 lead.
Kevin Smith hit a pitch out of the park with two on in the sixth inning for his first home run of the season. Up 15-8, Bo Tabola reached on an infield single, stole a base and later scored the game-ending run.
Vera finished with three hits while Smith drove in four runs and Jackson had three RBI in the win.
Landen Moore threw three shutout innings, striking out six for his first win.
The Titans will play Miami Dade Saturday night to wrap up the weekend.
