Baseball team falls to Miami Dade on the road
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team fell to Miami Dade College in the first game of a three-game series Thursday evening in Miami.
The Titans, who are now 17-14 in the Citrus Conference, lost 5-3 and will head home for a doubleheader against the Sharks on Sunday afternoon. Eastern Florida State College is in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Miami Dade scored three times in the bottom of the first and held the lead throughout.
The Titans got on the board in the fourth inning when Jeff Davis singled and scored on Bryce Jackson's RBI single.
Already down 3-1, Miami Dade came up with a big hit in the sixth inning to score two more runs.
Bo Tabola stepped up with two on in the seventh inning and hit a towering shot that just missed leaving the park, but rolled into second with a two-run double to cut the score to 5-3. The Titans had chances late to tie the game but the Miami Dade bullpen was solid as the Sharks improved to 16-15 in the conference.
Sunday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field. Admission is free and fans can watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
