The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team improved its record to 7-1 on Tuesday night with an 82-60 victory over DME Academy of Daytona Beach.
Karen Nimo scored 22 points to lead Eastern Florida in its regular-season home opener at the Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Marta Vieira added 16 points while Jalei O'Neal and Nia Santiago contributed 12 each.
The Titans took control early, leading 28-14 after the first quarter. The lead was 47-33 at halftime.
Eastern Florida was 22-for-25 from the free throw line compared to 11-for-12 for DME. The Titans shot 48.1 percent from the floor and out rebounded DME 37-21 while racking up 19 assists.
The victory over DME was the second of the season, the Titans winning 66-47 on Nov. 5 at DME.
Eastern Florida State College, ranked 20th in the NJCAA national poll, plays its next game at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at home, hosting Daytona State. The game is the Region 8 Citrus Conference opener.
Eastern Florida is the three-time defending conference champion.
