Men's basketball team picks up another conference win
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team scored the first 10 points and never looked back, defeating Hillsborough Community College Wednesday night at Titan Field House.
The Titans improved to 17-3 overall and 6-1 in the Citrus Conference after beating the Hawks 67-50 in a conference game.
Chandler Watts scored seven of the first 10 points as the Titans led by double digits in the first five minutes of the contest.
Hillsborough Community College cut the lead to 10-8 but Marouf Moumine hit a 3-pointer and started a 10-0 run for the Titans. Emondrek Erkins-Ford converted a three-point play late in the first half as the lead was 10 heading into halftime.
The Titans would score the first six points of the second half and would lead by double digits the rest of the game.
Erkins-Ford finished with 17 points while Watts finished with 15 for the Titans and Fredy-Salam Sylla had 10 points in the win.
It is Hillsborough Community College's second straight loss as they are now 10-9 overall and 2-5 in the conference. Maisel Reyes led the Hawks with 14 points.
Eastern Florida State College will play Florida Southwestern State College in a conference game next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to games at Titan Field House and it will be the final Alumni Game Day of the season. Fans can watch the game at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
