Softball team shuts out Tallahassee

The Eastern Florida State College softball team shut out Tallahassee State College Saturday at the JUCO Kickoff in Madeira Beach.

The Titans, who improved to 2-1, got another stellar outing from Avery Velazquez on the mound and picked up the 6-0 victory.

Velazquez tossed seven shutout innings for her second win of the season.

Sophomore Kayla Fanning had a big day in her first start, coming up in the bottom of the second inning and hitting a two-run single to give the Titans a 2-0 lead. Up 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Fanning hit a two-run double to blow the game open.

Emma George had two hits and scored twice in the win.

Eastern Florida State College will wrap up the JUCO Kickoff on Saturday night against Rend Lake College.
