Men's tennis team defeats Howard University
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team picked up its third straight win on Sunday morning, defeating Howard University.
The Titans, who are ranked No. 2 in the ITA Junior College rankings, defeated Howard University 6-1 at Titan Tennis Center.
Eastern Florida State College swept the three doubles matches to open with a 1-0 lead.
Alexandr Achour and Alberto Perez Mellado won the No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 victory while Johan Mottlau and Konstantin Kukaras won 7-5 and Pablo Garcia Rodriguez and Tomas Kurz Cardozo won 6-2.
In singles matches, Alexandr Achour won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Perez won in three sets, winning the first set 6-3, but lost the second set 7-6(4) and Perez won the third set 6-3.
Salva Mulet won at No. 3 in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 and Pablo Garcia Rodriguez won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Tomas Kurz Cardozo won at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 6 singles, Mottlau lost in a third set tiebreaker 10-6.
Eastern Florida State College will be back at home on Friday, hosting the University of Findlay at 9:30 a.m.
