
Women's basketball team plays in FCSAA Tournament semifinal on Friday
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will play in the FCSAA Tournament semifinals for the fourth straight season on Friday afternoon.
The Titans, who are the No. 5 seed, will play No. 1 Northwest Florida State College in the second semifinal at Northwest Florida State College. The game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. EDT.
Eastern Florida State College and Northwest Florida State College have met in the state tournament in four of the past five seasons with the Raiders winning three of the four. The Titans beat Northwest Florida State College for the title in 2023.
The Titans defeated Gulf Coast State College in the quarterfinals 80-75, sending the 13th ranked Commodores home. Eastern Florida State College scored 30 points in the fourth quarter, spurring the comeback. The 80 points was the most points a team scored in the quarterfinals.
Freshman Karen Nimo led the attack with 23 points while Jalei O'Neal had 15 points and six rebounds and E'Zaria Adams finished with 14 points. Ashleigh Battle chipped in with 12 points in the win.
Northwest Florida State College is the No. 1 seed and the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Division I national poll. The Raiders advanced to the semifinals after defeating No. 8 Hillsborough Community College 72-57 in the quarterfinals. The Raiders won the Panhandle Conference title and is 27-2 this season.
The No. 2 seed Chipola will play No. 3 Florida Southwestern State College in the first semifinal beginning at 2 p.m. EDT.
