
Women's basketball team hosts Miami Dade Wednesday and will be on WEFS-TV
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will host Miami Dade College in a key Citrus Conference game Wednesday night at Titan Field House.
The No. 22 ranked Titans will host the Sharks in a battle for second place in the conference at 5:30 p.m. in Melbourne. The game will be broadcast live locally on WEFS-TV which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. Admission to games at Titan Field House is free and it will be an Alumni Game Day with giveaways, a halftime competition brough to you by the Community Credit Union.
The two teams come into the contest with two losses in the conference and each come in on a win streak. The Titans won the first meeting at Miami Dade 56-49.
The Sharks, who are 13-6 overall and 7-2 in the conference, have four players who are averaging double figures this season. Shameir Quimby leads the Miami Dade attack, averaging 20.5 points per game this season. Teammate Cleaira Peterson is averaging 18.3 points while Kiara Harris is scoring 15 points per game. Jazmyne Bynum comes into the contest averaging 13.6 points.
The Titans are 8-2 in the conference and 16-5 overall and are led by the trio of Karen Nimo, E'Zaria Adams and Jalei O'Neal who are all averaging at least 10 points per game. Eastern Florida State College's defense has been one of the best in the FCSAA, allowing just 55.4 points per game this season.
The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and be the first of a conference doubleheader with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m. The games will be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
