
Baseball team back at home Saturday for conference doubleheader
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team is back home Saturday looking to get back on track.
The Titans, who are 3-4 in the Citrus Conference, will host Seminole State College in a doubleheader beginning at noon at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus. Eastern Florida State College has lost three straight conference games including the series opener on Thursday.
Seminole State College comes into the doubleheader on a six-game winning streak and is 5-2 in the conference. Erwin Cabassa is hitting .455 this season and went 4-for-4 with a double on Thursday as the designated hitter.
Eastern Florida State College will turn to Nathan Hook in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday. Hook is 2-1 with a 3.07 ERA this season with 17 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings.
Offensively the duo of Kevin Smith and Bo Tabola have led an attack that is hitting .294 this season. Smith is hitting .362 this season with an FCSAA-leading 23 stolen bases while Tabola comes in hitting .356 with a team-leading 22 runs scored.
The first game will be a seven-inning game with the second game scheduled for nine innings.
