
Big week of home matches for women's volleyball team
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will have three key Citrus Conference matches this week as they wrap up the regular season.
The No. 14 ranked Titans will be at home for three of the final four matches of the regular season as they try to solidify their seed for the state tournament.
Eastern Florida State College will begin the week against No. 2 Florida Southwestern at Titan Field House on Monday at 6 p.m. The Titans come into the week 13-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference with all three losses coming to the top two teams in the national poll. Sophomore Dominae Jordan has recorded at east 10 kills in each of the past four matches and is second in the FCSAA in kills per set, averaging 3.64. The Alpharetta, Georgia native has 200 kills this season. Teammate Lesmary Raffucci has recorded 183 kills this season for the Titans.
Florida Southwestern is 14-1 overall and 6-1 in the conference heading into the matchup and is led by Julija Grubisic Cabo who has 159 kills this season, averaging 3.31 kills per set.
Then on Wednesday night the Titans will host Daytona State College who is also 4-3 in the conference and is 8-8 overall. The Titans beat the Falcons in a thrilling five set match in the first meeting and Wednesday's match will be a key match to decide seedings for the state tournament.
Daytona State College has won two straight matches and took No. 1 Miami Dade College to five sets in their last loss. The Falcons are led by Leia Lund who is averaging a state-best 3.64 kills per set and has recorded 222 kills this season.
Wednesday's match will also be broadcast live locally on WEFS-TV, channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse.
Then on Saturday afternoon the Titans will be home for the final time this season, hosting Hillsborough Community College at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House. The five sophomores will be honored as they will be playing for the final time at home.
Hillsborough Community College is 1-5 in the conference standings to begin the week but are 12-8 overall and are led by Taylor Sass who has the most kills in the FCSAA this season with 350 and is averaging 3.62 kills per set.
The Titans will wrap up the regular season Monday night on the road against Polk State College.
