Volleyball team travels to Daytona State for conference match Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will be back on the road for a top 20 matchup against Daytona State College on Saturday.
The Falcons are ranked 19th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and are 2-0 in the Citrus Conference, coming off a win against No. 13 Hillsborough Community College last Wednesday. Saturday will be the home opener for the Falcons who are 6-5 overall.
The 18th-ranked Titans are coming off a win on Wednesday in straight sets against Polk State College and are 1-2 in the conference. Sophomore Dominae Jordan leads the conference in kills per set (3.76) and is second in total kills this season with 139. Teammate Lesmary Raffucci has 131 kills this season and is averaging 3.54 which is fifth in the conference.
Daytona State College leads the state in digs per set with 15.25 and is third in the conference in kills per set at 12.14, led by Leia Lund who is tied for third in the conference in kills per set, hitting 3.64.
The matchup will feature a couple of the top setters in the conference as Daytona State's Courtney McGuire is second in the state in assists per set (7.97) while Eastern Florida State College's Sophia Iglesias is third, averaging 7.68.
Saturday's match will begin at 2 p.m. at L. Gale Lemerand Health Wellness and Community Education Center. Admission is $5 to the match and you can watch the match live online here.
