Women's golf team in middle of pack at Flagler Fall Slam

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in 14th place after the first day at the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine.

The Titans shot a 329 in the first round at Marsh Creek Country Club in a tournament that features NCAA Division II, NAIA and junior college teams.

Kira Shellman is tied for 24th overall after a 78 in the first round while teammate Jasmine Yang is tied for 40th with an 81. Savannah Hawthorne finished with an 83 while Delia Timpy had an 87 and Olivia Timpy finished with an 89.

"Kira was consistent all day and Jasmine hung in there. Marsh Creek is a difficult course and if you are off, it will beat you up," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Anderson University out of South Carolina is in first place, shooting a 299 in the first round led by Jessica Rathbone who leads the tournament after an even par 72 in the first round.

Teams will wrap up the tournament on Tuesday morning.
