Women's golf team in sixth place at national tournament
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in sixth place after the first day of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
The Titans shot a 316 in the first round and is just two shots out of the top four.
Freshman Ann Burel shot a 5-over 77 in the first round and is tied for 17th place overall. Burel shot a 39 on the front nine and then a 38 on the back nine, finishing 1-under in the final three holes.
Teammates Jenna Barnett and Mila Tang each shot 78 and are tied for 21st overall at 6-over. Brittany Odic shot an 83 and Emma Parker finished with an 84.
Seminole State College had a good first day and is leading the tournament after shooting a 298. Odessa College is in second place, two strokes behind Seminole State College. Daytona State College is third.
The Titans will tee off on No. 10 beginning at 11:50 a.m. in the second round on Tuesday.
