Women's golf team places eighth in national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished eighth at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament at Buffalo Dunes Golf Club in Garden City, Kansas.

The Titans struggled in the final round of the tournament, shooting the highest score of the week, a 327.

Mila Tang finished with a 79 on Thursday and finished 12th overall at 16-over par. Teammate Ann Burel had an eagle on the 13th hole and finished with an 80. Burel placed 32nd overall.

Jenna Barnett had an 83 while teammates Brittany Odic and Emma Parker each finished with an 85.

Odessa College won the national title as the Wranglers were the only team to shoot under 300 in the final round, posting a 299. Odessa's Napajira Nami Luesattha won the individual title, shooting 9-under for the tournament. Teammate Chloe De Verner placed second at 8-over along with Seminole State College's Asitha Ashok.

Seminole State College finished second in the tournament with Daytona State College third.

It is the fourth straight season that the Titans finished in the top 10 in the nation.

"We just didn't prepare well for what Buffalo Dunes had for us, the ball bounced different and we just couldn't adjust to it," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We played well in the Fall, got better as the Spring went on and qualified for the national tournament, which was the goal. We just picked a bad time to have our worst round of the season."
