Men's golf team heads to Miami for Battle at the Shores
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team will wrap up the regular season this week, competing at the Battle at the Shores in Miami Beach.
The Titans have finished in the top five in each of the three spring tournaments and will face some of the best teams in NCAA Division II and NAIA on Monday and Tuesday at Normandy Shores Golf Course. The duo of Micke Laurelli (42nd) and Masen McKain (48th) are in the top 50 of junior college men's golfers this season.
Eastern Florida State College is ranked 15th in the national poll and finished 13th last season at the event.
"Barry is always a competitive event as it has most of the NCAA Division II colleges from Florida competing," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It is a terrific opportunity for the team to get a taste of the next level as well as help us prepare for our district championship."
Florida Southern comes into the tournament ranked 11th in the NCAA Division II national rankings along with the University of South Carolina Beaufort No. 14, No. 16 Nova Southeaster, No. 21 Rollins College, No. 30 Barry University and No. 31 Saint Leo.
Keiser University is in the tournament and is the No. 2 ranked team in the latest NAIA rankings.
The Titans will tee off Monday at 8:30 a.m. and will tee off with Morehouse College, St. Thomas University and Palm Beach Atlantic in the 19-team tournament.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
