Men's golf team places fifth at Chuck Kalanick Memorial

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished fifth at the Chuck Kalanick Memorial in Alabama on Tuesday.

The Titans moved into the top five with a 302 in the final round at Cherokee Ridge Country Club in Union Grove.

Freshman Horace Pennix finished tied for ninth overall, shooting a 74 for the second time in three rounds. Micke Laurelli shot an even par 72 and made the biggest move on Tuesday, finishing 19th overall.

Masen McKain shot a 75 and finished 17th overall while Hugo Griesheimer finished with an 80 while Jamie Chepenik had an 85.

"Another tough round. Good comeback by Micke and steady play from Horace," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We just struggled adapting to the course and taking advantage of the scorable holes."

Central Alabama Community College won the tournament with Wallace State second and Southern Union third overall.

Eastern Florida State College will compete in the Calhoun Fall Invitational on October 7-8.
