
Men's golf team set to tee off at district tournament
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team will compete in the NJCAA Southeast District Championship in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The Titans, who are ranked 15th in the latest national poll, will compete against 16 other schools in the district championships at the Ol' Colony Golf Complex.
It will be a battle of some of the best teams in NJCAA Division I men's golf as nine of the 17 teams are ranked in the top 30 with Central Alabama Community College ranked sixth heading into the postseason. Jackson Spybey leads Central Alabama with two individual wins this season and is ranked third in Division I. Teammate James Baker has three wins and is ranked sixth overall.
Eastern Florida State College comes into the postseason with a second place finish and two third place finishes this spring. Masen McKain and Micke Laurelli both had good tournaments in Foley, Alabama at the Glenlakes Invitational. Both are ranked in the top 50.
Wallace State Community College-Hanceville is ranked 18th and Jefferson State Community College is 19th in the poll.
The Titans will tee off at 9 a.m. Monday and will play with Southern Union State and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. They will play 36 holes on Monday with the final round slated for Tuesday morning.
