The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team defeated Indian River State College Wednesday night to remain unbeaten in the Citrus Conference.
The 18th ranked Titans used a big third quarter to pull away and record their 12th straight win, beating the Pioneers 66-60 at Titan Field House. Eastern Florida State College is now 8-0 in the conference and 13-3 overall.
Things got off to a slow start as both teams struggled in the first quarter, but Amelia Hassett scored the final six points and help the Titans take an 11-9 lead.
Jaidyn Koerdt hit a couple of 3-pointers as the Titans extended the lead early in the second quarter and Eastern Florida State College would head into halftime with a six-point lead, 33-27.
Indian River State College would cut the lead to three, 41-38 with two minutes and 40 seconds left in the third quarter but the Titans responded with a 10-0 run spearheaded by Koerdt who hit another 3-pointer as well as another basket during the run as the Titans ended the third quarter leading 51-38.
The Titans would keep the lead the rest of the way and have now recorded 32 straight conference wins.
Koerdt led the Titans with her first double-double of the season, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Hassett also recorded a double-double, her 14th of the season, with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Kailyn Peters led Indian River State College, who fell to 5-2 in the conference, with 17 points.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Daytona State College for a Citrus Conference game on Saturday. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
