
Men's basketball team wraps up regular season Monday
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will wrap up the regular season on Monday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.
The Titans will host Polk State College in a Citrus Conference game at 7 p.m. Monday. The team will honor the sophomore class before the game beginning at 6:25 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come early to help celebrate the class.
"I have said multiple times that this is a special group. They are a joy to be around every day and they have done a great job in challenging each other to be their very best. That starts with our sophomore group and the leadership they bring daily," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Thomas Gray said. "I could not be more proud of our sophomores for not just what they are doing on the basketball court but for the type of young men they are!"
Eastern Florida State College comes into the contest 11-4 in the conference and 22-6 overall look to finish the regular season with a victory as they head into the postseason.
The Titans won the first meeting on the road 82-70 at the beginning of February as Corey Caulker scored 28 points in the contest. He has scored at least 14 points in each of the past six games and will be one of five players honored at 6:25 p.m. before the team gets ready for the 7 p.m. game.
Emondrek Erkins-Ford, Wesley Isoje, Efe Tahmaz and Ernests Locmelis will also be playing their final game at Titan Field House Monday night.
Erkins-Ford leads the Titans this season averaging 15.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Polk State College has won their past two games and come into the matchup needing a win to secure a spot in the FCSAA Region VIII Tournament. The Eagles are 7-8 in the conference and have 19 wins overall this season.
Ty Owens is coming off a 29-point performance and has scored 20-plus in three of the past four games while Jordan Brown had 23 in a two-point win over Indian River State College.
Owens is averaging 14.2 points per game while teammate Fray Nguimbi is averaging 11.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The sophomores will be honored at 6:25 p.m. with the game beginning at 7 p.m. at Titan Field House. Admission is free to the game and fans can watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
