
Men's basketball player Fredy-Salam Sylla named national player of the Week
Eastern Florida State College men's basketball player Fredy-Salam Sylla has been named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week.
Sylla had a double-double in each of the three games at the Battle for the Boot tournament helping the team reach the championship game.
The freshman from Paris, France averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds and had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win over No. 16 CSI and in the championship game against No. 1 South Plains he scored 19 points and 11 rebounds.
He was named to the all-tournament team in Idaho and was the FCSAA Division I Player of the Week on Tuesday.
"It is a great feeling, I was surprised but I was happy when I heard. There is still more work to be done but it is a good thing for me," Sylla said.
Sylla and the Titans will be back at Titan Field House on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
