Two softball players named to all-FCSAA teams
The Eastern Florida State College softball program had two players named to the All-FCSAA teams on Monday.
It marked the first time in three seasons that multiple players were named to the all-state team as freshmen Avery Velazquez and Aracelis Jimenez were both honored.
Velazquez was named to the first team at the at-large position after the Ocoee native hit .414 in 58 games with 22 doubles and seven home runs with 65 RBI. On the mound she is 23-10 with a 1.14 ERA and has struck out 173 hitters in 208 1/3 innings.
Jimenez was named to the second team at outfield as the centerfielder was the leadoff hitter for the Titans all season. The freshman from Orlando hit .379 in 58 games with 23 stolen bases.
It is the first time in three seasons and eighth time in past 15 years that the Titans have had a first team All-State player.
The Titans finished the regular season with 38 wins which is a program record. They enter the FCSAA Division I Softball Championships as the No. 7 seed, opening Wednesday against No. 2 Northwest Florida State College in Clearwater.
