
Softball program to honor sophomores Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will honor six sophomores on Saturday before the doubleheader against St. Petersburg College.
The sophomore class has helped the program to a couple of successful seasons with the Titans as the group helped the Titans make a run in the FCSAA Region 8 Tournament last season and have taken on big roles this season as the Titans have won 31 games, marking the second straight season the program has reached 30 wins.
Infielder Ashley Corazzini has played in 76 games in her two seasons, hitting .273 in 172 at-bats. Corazzini has taken over as the second baseman this season and is hitting .283 with 10 doubles, two triples and two home runs.
Infielder Ashley Grieser has played in 47 games over two seasons hitting .344 in 125 at-bats. Grieser has been the third baseman this season and is hitting .336 with eight doubles and four triples this season.
Outfielder Kayla Fanning has played in 49 games the past two seasons and is playing left field this season hitting .237 for the Titans.
Pitcher Luci Walters has started 46 games and appeared in 55 games and has a 23-13 record with three saves in her two seasons with a career 4.10 ERA. In the state tournament Walters went 2-1, going 15 2/3 innings and allowing nine earned runs. This season Walters is 12-5 with a 4.08 ERA and has started 20 games.
Pitcher Alanna O'Brien is 10-8 with a 3.77 ERA in 46 appearances over two seasons with the Titans. O'Brien was used out of the pen throughout the state tournament, helping the Titans reach the South Atlantic District B Championship Game. This season O'Brien is 1-1 in nine appearances and has a 4.50 ERA with two complete games.
Pitcher Zoey Mills joined the Titans in the offseason and is recovering from knee surgery.
The sophomore class will be recognized at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Titan Softball Complex before the doubleheader against St. Petersburg College which begins at 1 p.m.
