
Softball team hosts Daytona State in conference doubleheader
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host Daytona State College in a key Citrus Conference doubleheader Tuesday.
The Titans, who are ranked 18th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will be back at Titan Softball Complex against the No. 13 Falcons beginning at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Florida State College is coming off a sweep against the College of Central Florida on Saturday and is now 4-2 in the conference.
Daytona State College comes into the matchup 18-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference after being swept by Florida Southwestern State College. The Falcons are hitting .374 as a team coming into the doubleheader and has a team ERA of 2.10 led by Kaylee Martineau who has a 1.79.
Offensively, Daytona State College is led by Aurielle Reavis who is hitting .463.
Freshman Avery Velazquez leads the Titans with a 0.93 ERA and is 12-2 with 74 strikeouts this season and is hitting .403 with three home runs and 22 RBI. Teammate Ashley Grieser is leading the Titans offensively, hitting .418 while Aracelis Jimenez is hitting .405.
