Softball team back home Saturday for doubleheader
The Eastern Florida State College softball team is back at Titan Softball Complex for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans come into the contest on an eight-game win streak and are 9-1 on the season. The team will host South Florida State College beginning at 1 p.m. The Panthers are looking to get on track after a slow start to the season.
South Florida State College lost a couple of games to Seminole State College on Thursday but split with Polk State College last weekend. Ava Matrascia has a five-game hitting streak and is batting .533 in six games this season.
Freshman Avery Velazquez has had a big week both on the mound and at the plate for the Titans, winning all four games on the mound, allowing two earned runs over 20 innings and heads into Saturday's doubleheader 9-for-11 at the plate with a couple of home runs.
The doubleheader on Saturday begins at 1 p.m. on the Melbourne campus. Fans can watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
