Softball team back home for opener Tuesday afternoon
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will be home for the first time this season on Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader.
The Titans, who are 3-1 on the season, will host the Florida State College at Jacksonville for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
Tuesday will be the first game of the season for Florida State College at Jacksonville, who has four sophomores back from last season's team. All four played the majority of games last season led by Hannah Steedley, who hit .293 in 43 games last season while teammate Masey Padgett hit .293 in 43 games.
Eastern Florida State College had a good weekend at the JUCO Kickoff in Madeira Beach as pitcher Avery Velazquez had two wins and a save, allowing no runs and just three hits over 13 2/3 innings of work. The freshman struck out 16 and did not walk a batter.
Offensively, the Titans were led by the duo of Jessica Camacho and Ashley Grieser who both hit over .500 last weekend.
Tuesday's doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex and admission is free. Fans can watch the games live online at EFSC Titans YouTube page.
