Men's tennis team home Friday against Millenia

Men's tennis team home Friday against Millenia

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team will be home Friday afternoon for a match against Millenia University at Titan Tennis Center.

The match will be the first of the regular season for the men's tennis team. The team has three players returning from last year's team that finished third in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

Alexandr Achour returns after a successful freshman season in which he lost in the semifinals at No. 4 singles and finished runner-up at No. 3 doubles with Tomas Quesada Perez who graduated.

Achour was named to the NJCAA All-America second team in doubles with his teammate.

He returns along with Konstantin Kukaras and Filip Sormaz are also back from last year's team and form a solid sophomore class.

"I think the group gets along very well, the depth is really good. We are not as top heavy as we were last year but we have some guys that can win at the top," Eastern Florida State College men's tennis coach Bobby Cashman said. "We are going to be good at doubles, which is really important. If this team continues to grow like it should, we will be really good in May."

Friday's match will be the first of six home matches for the men's tennis team. Matches at Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus are free to attend.
