Softball team back home for conference doubleheader Tuesday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will be back at Titan Softball Complex Tuesday for a conference doubleheader.
The No. 17 ranked Titans will host Polk State College in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern Florida State College is coming off a sweep on Saturday and has won four of the past six games. The Titans are hitting .341 as a team this season which is seventh in the state and are led by Avery Velazquez who is hitting .466 this season with 38 RBI, both among the top five players in the state. Teammate Aracelis Jimenez is hitting .373 in 32 games as the leadoff hitter.
On the mound, Avery Velazquez is third in the FCSAA in ERA with a 1.12 as the starting pitcher has 13 wins and 98 strikeouts which are both ranked second in the state.
Polk State College is also coming off a sweep on Saturday and is 5-9 in the conference and has 18 wins this season. The Eagles have won three of the past five and are hitting .305 as a team.
Chelsi Rae' Hebert is hitting .424 in 31 games with six home runs and 31 RBI this season while teammate Karyna Lewis is hitting .377.
