Softball team hosts Daytona State in final home games of season

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will be home for the final time this season on Tuesday afternoon.

The Titans, who are 34-22 overall and 19-21 in the Citrus Conference, will host Daytona State College in a conference doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex.

Eastern Florida State College is currently in fifth place in the conference standings and are in the hunt for their first postseason berth since 2019. They are currently in the top three in Region 8 in both team batting average and team ERA. Freshman McKenzie Jewell is hitting .407 this season with 15 doubles and three home runs while teammate Livie Davis is hitting .388 with 11 doubles and seven triples which is second in Region 8. Freshman starting pitcher Hannah Strickland has a 2.70 ERA in 23 starts this season and is 15-5.

Daytona State College is 25-29 this season and 16-24 in the conference. Offensively, the team is led by Morgan Davis who is hitting .361 with 12 doubles and four home runs. On the mound, Allizaya Talamantes has a 2.50 ERA in 23 starts with 15 complete games.

The two teams split a doubleheader earlier this season.
