Men's golf team finishes third at Dan York Memorial

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished third in the Dan York Memorial event at Marcus Pointe Golf Course in Pensacola.

The Titans shot a 3-over 291 in the final round and finished behind team champion Southern Union and Central Alabama.

Sophomore Masen McKain shot 1-under 71 in the final round and finished tied for third overall at 1-under. Teammate Horace Pennix finished tied for eighth overall in his first tournament. Pennix shot 3-over 75 in the final round and finished the tournament 2-over.

Micke Laurelli also shot 3-over 75 on Tuesday and tied for 12th overall at 3-over for the tournament. Hugo Griesheimer shot the team's best round with a 2-under 70 to finish 20th overall. Teammate Andrew Bell shot an 84 in the final round.

"A good comeback from Hugo and solid play by Masen," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "A good tournament for all to get into the rhythm of college golf."

Eastern Florida State College will play at the Chuck Kalanick Memorial Sept. 22-24 at the Cherokee Ridge Country Club in Alabama.
