Men's basketball team faces St. Petersburg Saturday on the road
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team will travel to St. Petersburg for a key Central Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans come into the matchup 7-2 and in second place in the conference while St. Petersburg is currently 4-4 in the conference but has won their last three games including a big win against Santa Fe College on Wednesday.
Zane Nelson is averaging 15.5 points in conference games this season for St. Petersburg while Martin Mercedes is averaging 11.5 points in the eight conference games.
Eastern Florida State College is allowing just 64.4 points per game this season, which is fifth in the state. The Titans have six players that average at least eight points per game led by Roberts Berze who is averaging 11.3 points per game. Teammate Vlad Salaridze is coming off one of his best games of the season, scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds against Daytona State College.
Eastern Florida State College has won four of the past five in the series. Saturday's game will tip off at 4 p.m. in St. Petersburg.
