Men's basketball team beats Santa Fe for 10th conference win

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team rallied in the second half to defeat Santa Fe 78-73 in a Central Conference game Saturday on the road.

The Titans were trailing 39-30 at halftime but came back behind a big second half by sophomore Nick Alves. Alves scored seven straight, with less than 13 minutes to go in the contest to get the Titans within two points of Santa Fe.

From there the Titans would get the lead and hit their shots down the stretch to post their 10th conference win of the season.

"So proud of our guys. Incredible resiliency, just an unbelievable win for our guys," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "I am just happy for this win, We have Daytona coming in Monday and that is going to be a really big game as they are playing really well." 

Alves led the Titans with 27 points, 17 coming in the second half and Christyon Eugene had 12 points while Vlad Salaridze had all eight of his points in the second half.

Eastern Florida State College, who is 12-4 overall and 10-2 in the conference, will host Daytona State College Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
