Men's basketball team remains perfect in conference, beats Polk State

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team won its ninth straight on Saturday afternoon, defeating Polk State College 78-68 in a Central Conference game at Titan Field House.

The Titans, who remained unbeaten in the conference at 8-0, finished the first half on a 15-6 run to take a 10-point lead into halftime. Harry Sosa made his second start of the season and came out of the gates quick, scoring the first seven points of the game and had a career-high 18 points, all in the first half.

Sophomore Nick Alves took over in the second half, scoring 14 points and down the stretch made some big rebounds to make sure the Titans kept the lead.

Polk State College cut the lead to five with about a minute left, but Vlad Salaridze hit all four of his free throws and Brody Boyer hit both of his to clinch the win.

Eastern Florida State College is now 10-2 overall and will hit the road for four straight games, beginning Monday night at Hillsborough Community College for a conference game beginning at 7:30 p.m.
