Men's basketball team tops Santa Fe in conference game

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team won their third straight game Monday night, defeating Santa Fe in a Central Conference game on the road.

The Titans improved to 2-0 in the conference with the 70-64 win.

Eastern Florida State College came out cold and Santa Fe took an early 8-2 advantage. Santa Fe would lead throughout the first half and down eight with four minutes remaining in the half, the Titans would cut the XXX lead to 35-32 at halftime.

After a Santa Fe basket in the second half, the Titans went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for the first time in the game, 39-37 on a Justin Reid basket with 16:14 remaining. From there, the game became a 3-point shooting contest as the teams combined for five 3-pointers in a two-minute span. Chris Roth would hit two of them, including a deep 3-pointer that would keep the Titans out front.

Ja'Darius Harris was red hot from beyond the 3-point arc, hitting all five of his 3-pointers including a big one with 6:51 remaining to give the Titans a 58-55 lead.

The game would come down to the final two minutes with Lovre Zaja hitting four big free throws to lock up the win for the Titans. It was Zaja's only points of the game.

Harris led the way with a season-high 22 points while Brody Boyer and Justin Reid each had 13 as the Titans improved to 4-2.

Eastern Florida State College will host Daytona State College in a conference matchup Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Titan Field House.
